6 Simple Ways To Refresh Date Night...
It's actually been quite a while since Andrew and I have gone on a date, but unfortunately that seems to be what happens when you have a baby. Here I am going to share with you 7 simple and fun ways to refresh your date night.
Try something new
Try something new
So often when Andrew and I would have a date night, we would repeat the same thing over and over. Typically it was dinner and a movie, and while we still love to do that together, it became less of a date and more of a routine.
So instead of dinner and a movie, maybe go on a day date. We both love to go out to breakfast, so a couple times we would go out to eat at our favorite breakfast place and then enjoy walking around downtown during the afternoon.
Try an at home date night
My husband and I love to cook together. We will make dinner, typically something we don't make often. Sometimes it's Chinese food, Pizza from scratch, or a new recipe. After we eat dinner we'll go watch a movie on our laptop in our bed, and cuddle. Personally this is one of my favorite date nights, because we can carry conversation without a waiter or waitress interrupting. Now the most fun of this is if we are trying to make something that we don't make often, it doesn't always turn out right. The very first time Andrew and I attempted to make Chinese food, it turned out horrible. It was one of my favorite date nights though. It's a happy memory that I love to look back on.
Take an overnight trip
This doesn't have to be a trip to an expensive hotel, or even a cheap hotel. Andrew is really big on camping, hiking, fishing, pretty much anything outdoorsy. It has been quite a while since we've gone on a spontaneous camping trip, and as much as I protested (I'm not quite as big on the whole outside thing), I really did enjoy myself every time. While there have been times that I was eaten alive by mosquitos, got soaking wet while sleeping because it started pouring rain because the waterproof seal on our tent wore down, and dealt with drunk and puking Andrew and friends, All of these times were worth it. It was something that Andrew enjoyed, and I enjoyed simply because I was with him.
Go to a place that means something to both of you
Andrew and I unfortunately don't live in California anymore, so it makes it hard to do this one.
But if you get the chance, go back to where you had your first date.
Take them to the place where you shared your first kiss, or to the place you first said you love each other. It doesn't have to be a "first" type of place either. You could love a certain hiking trail, or maybe a specific spot on the beach. Either way you could pack a meal, and spend some quality time with each other.
Go Kayaking
We've actually only done this once together, but it was really fun! I'm not super adventurous on my own, but he definitely brings it out in me. It very much takes some teamwork, and to be able to trust that someone won't purposely tip you over into the water, but it is definitely a try worthy date. Neither of you have to be really outdoorsy for this either. This is something that really anyone can enjoy. You can even try different locations, Here we have access to it at the beach, inlets, rivers, lakes, etc. A different place for every date lol.
Go to an aquarium
Maybe Kayaking isn't your thing, or maybe outside isn't your thing lol. Going to an aquarium is so much fun, and is a learning experience. Andrew and I both love the aquarium, and there is one not too far from us. But this is also a good place to involve kids in date night as well.
