How It All Began...

At the end of 2013, a boy caught my attention. A boy that I had known for a while, but paid very little notice to. But of course I had started paying attention to him a little to late, for he was leaving for USMC Bootcamp a couple weeks later.
When this boy finally returned he was no longer just a boy, he was a boy that I had missed so much. A boy that I had grown so used to talking to all day everyday, that I hadn't talked to in months.
A boy that had grown up.

Finally on February 21st, after a couple months of nonstop texting, we started "dating". Well as much as you can date when one of you is in California and the other is in Florida for training. While it did suck to be so far apart for so long, it was also a blessing in disguise. We got to learn more about each other, and grow in our relationship, without all of the confusing physical stuff to get in the way.

We went through almost six months of being together, before we actually got to be together. While he was only going to be home for ten short days, these ten short days were well worth the wait. The anxiousness I felt while waiting for his flight to land, was like that moment when your about to walk out on Christmas morning when you're ten, but instead of the pure happiness and excitement you also add in being totally and utterly terrified. No matter how much you FaceTime someone, it is nowhere near the real deal, and in the next couple minutes I was going to get to hug my boyfriend for the first time. Have you ever seen a really awkward hug? That kind of hug where you can totally tell that one person is totally confident and not nervous, but the other is a complete nervous wreck? Yeah, that nervous wreck was me, and the confident one was Andrew (the boyfriend).
And believe it or not that nervous wreck kissed her boyfriend for the first time that night too, and it was the best kiss she had ever had. A kiss that to this day still gives her butterflies.

Now fast forward a few weeks, Andrew had returned to Florida, and life went back to constant texting, and long distance FaceTime dates. He was coming home again, and I couldn't be more excited! Little did I know my life was about to change.
While on this visit Andrew had gotten sick and we wound up right outside of an ER. We were on our way to a destination only Andrew knew, and to this day I still don't know. You should all also be aware of how painfully stubborn Andrew is. He was insistent he was fine and didn't need to go in. As I'm half holding him up he reaches into his pocket and starts digging around.
He pulls his hand out and says "This isn't how it was supposed to go". Before I can even realize what's going on, he opens his hand up and I see my grandmothers gold wedding band she left for me after she passed away. I look up at him confused as to how and why he had it, and see a huge grin on his face as he asks me to marry him. The answer was simple, yes.

By December of 2014, I was married to the man of my dreams.
A small court house wedding, with only immediate family members with us,  our little family began.
A few short months later I packed up my stuff and dog, and drove across the country to live with my wonderful husband in our new home in North Carolina.
