Stress Management...
Whether you're a mom, a student, a dad, or you work, you're bound to have at least a little stress in your life. Let's be honest, managing your stress can be, well, stressful. Some days may be easier than others, but on those particularly difficult days try some of my favorite ways to help manage stress.
Meditate
When hearing the word meditate, people often tend to think you have to sit for hours on end. Seriously, who has time for that? Meditating can be on your own terms. You chose the amount of time, and the way you spend it. Personally I like to take five to ten minutes, close my eyes and either sit in silence and focus on my breathing, or listen to slow acoustics and pace my breathing to the music. Even better if I can go to my happy place!
Create a planner
I've found that if I have my schedule written down, not just saved in my phone, I feel a little less worried about everything that I have to do. Once I can see it all planned out in front of me, and everything that I have to do, it gives my mind a rest. This way I don't have to have the constant feeling that I'm forgetting something.
Designate some time for just me
I'm definitely still working on this one, but when I do finally get a moment to myself it really helps. Now it doesn't have to be anything spectacular, or expensive. One of my favorite things is to have an at home "pamper night". Taking a bath with some essential oils (Lavender is great for relaxing!), listening to music, or even just watching YouTube videos. Followed by wearing my favorite robe and watching one of my favorite shows, while curled up on the couch cuddling with my little family or furbabies. (Hot Cocoa during the colder months makes this even better!)
I'll have a more detailed post of my "pamper night" routine in another post later on, so keep a look out!
Exercise
Whether it's a pretty intense workout that has me sweating to death, or just a simple walk with Skye in the stroller, exercise always helps me deal with stress. I'm a huge fan of throwing in some headphones and going to the gym, but now that I have Skye it's a lot more difficult to get there most days. Since having Skye, we have been going on walks everyday that the NC weather cooperates. I love our walks up and down our street, even though they're pretty short, it's nice to get us out of the house, and fresh air!
