Postpartum Essentials, After Baby Essentials
Sorry for the HUGE break I took the last few weeks! I just started working again, and I'm also taking a couple college courses, so my plate has been super full with all of that, plus being a mom and a wife! I'm almost finished with my classes, so hopefully soon we will be getting on a better schedule. Thanks for hanging on tight with me along this crazy adventure!

Everyone always tells you what you'll need for baby, but no one (other than my mom) warned me about the postpartum process. To be 100% honest, the postpartum process is so much harder than I ever thought. While it is all so beyond worth it, it's still really rough. These are my postpartum essentials, and by no means is this absolutely everything, but these are the major things that I basically wouldn't have survived without. If you have any other postpartum essentials that you think should be on this list, comment below! Andrew and I hope to have another baby soon, so I'd love to know any other products or tips that would help!
Fridababy Fridet
While it's not pretty, it is so much more helpful than the tiny peri bottle they send home with you from the hospital. It's a whole lot less awkward to use, and it seriously helped more than I ever thought. I didn't bring it to the hospital with me, and that was a huge mistake. I suffered three days in the hospital, before I got home and my mom reminded me I had gotten this. If you get anything on this list, get this. I promise you won't regret it!
*Protip- Add witch hazel to the bottle for extra comfort down there!
Dermoplast
Typically when you're in the hospital they supply some of this magic to you, so definitely take advantage of this! With everything that just happened to your lady parts, you will definitely need some relief. I ordered a couple of these afterwards, and depending on how your body handles birth, you might want to too! I had pretty bad tearing (TMI sorry!), so this helped a ton, especially once everything started healing!
Bobby
Now this may seem odd for a postpartum essential, but this little guy has multiple uses! While it helps a ton for positioning baby while feeding, it also doubles as a "donut pillow"! Sitting was really uncomfortable for me for the first few weeks, and I really didn't want to spend money on a special pillow I wouldn't need after the first couple weeks. I already had a boppy for Skye, and I only used it while nursing, so when I wasn't nursing I would sit on this, which really helped to relieve some pressure!
Olly Prenatal
After giving birth to baby, it is still super important to keep taking you're prenatal. Taking them on a regular basis after baby helps to ensure you're still getting the proper vitamins you need. Your body just went through a pretty traumatic even, and it's gonna need that extra love for a while. The are also super helpful while nursing, since your little love is getting lots of your nutrients, it will help to make sure you are BOTH getting what you need. These were my favorite vitamins, because they tasted and smelled really good! A lot of the other vitamins I tried were either too fragrant and would make me nauseous, or tasted awful.
Perineal Pads
Perineal Pads are so helpful after baby, your lady parts are going to be very sore for a few weeks until everything is healed. While you can totally make these at home with a few pinterest walkthroughs, I found it so much easier just to purchase a package of these. Anytime I was too sore, I'd pop one of these on top of my normal pad (I didn't find these to be very absorbent, so I always wore a maxi pad underneath to be safe), and soon I'd have at least a little bit of relief.
Maxi Pads
After baby, your going to bleed. A lot. I wasn't as prepared as I thought I was pad wise. I thought I could get by with one package of regular pads. I was so very wrong. Please do not make my mistake, yes maxi pads make you feel like you are wearing a diaper, but it is so much better to use them, than the alternative. Lets just say I had to make a late night trip to walmart our first night home.
Super Cheap Ugly Undies
Do yourself a favor, and save your pretty underwear. Thankfully I had a stash of what I called my "Period Undies", and I just used those instead of my "nicer" underwear. If you don't have any underwear that you don't care about ruining, I'd seriously consider buying some ugly cheap undies for after baby. Unfortunately so much is going to be happening down there, and you don't want it to be happening in your pretty undies.
