Why I Am Going Back To Work...

Image
I love being a stay at home mom, it's the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I love waking up to cuddles, giggles, and smiles from our beautiful little girl. I love watching her learn new things, and the pure joy on her face when we play with her favorite toys. I love being able to exclusively breastfeed, without worrying about pumping for her later. I love holding her as she sleeps, and hearing her coo in her sleep. I love everything about being able to stay home with her. So why would I stop?  I'm going back to work because I love my husband and my daughter, and I want to give them the world. I want to work hard now, so that later Andrew and I can retire easily, and enjoy our older years doing all of the things we want. I want the best things for Skye, I want to be able to take her to travel the world, to go to Disney World, to travel and see all of the family we don't see often. I want her to be able to pursue whatever passion she wants. I want to be able to se...

Favorite Moisturizers...

Image
So obviously if you guys have read any of my blog posts, you'll know that I love Aveeno Products. Especially their Active Naturals products, but I also love lots of other moisturizers and lotions. I've purchased all of these products more than once, and I absolutely love all of them. I definitely have other favorite Moisturizers, but I wanted to pick a select few that I always have on hand. Hope you enjoy! Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion I keep this Moisturizer on hand at all times, even though I do occasionally switch to other moisturizers. I always keep this in our guest bathroom, and I keep a smaller bottle in my bathroom. This stuff works great for babies too, and has never caused an issue for Skye when I run out of her moisturizers. I have pretty sensitive skin as well, so I definitely recommend this to anyone with really dry and sensitive skin. Palmer's Cocoa Butter This stuff was amazing during my pregnancy, my whole body was so ridiculously dry, ...

Beauty Uses For Coconut Oil...

Image
You've all heard about the magic of coconut oil. It can fix almost anything right? I bought a ton of coconut oil a while back, and not too long after I regretted it. Not because it wasn't worth it, because it totally was, but because I had no idea of all of the different uses of it other than cooking. Coconut oil goes far beyond the kitchen. Here's a list of my absolute favorite beauty uses for coconut oil: Moisturizer: This is probably one of the most obvious uses, but if you have oily skin, I probably wouldn't recommend this one. I have super dry skin, so this works great for me. I only apply it at night, just because it will leave you looking a little shiny, and it definitely has helped a ton. Makeup Remover: Believe it or not this works super well to take off even waterproof makeup. How I use this is by taking a little bit of oil on my fingertips, and applying it to my eye area and rubbing it all over breaking everything up. After I look like  raccoon (...

TV Series' You Need To Watch Now...

Grey's Anatomy: You definitely need this show in your life. A lot of people say this show is overrated, but honestly I love it. It is very dramatic, but in a good way. This show pulls on your heart strings so hard, that one second you will be crying tears of joy, and the next you will be sobbing like a baby. Friends: This show is timeless, and amazing in everyway. Everyone has already seen it, and probably loves it; but what kind of list would this be without Friends being on it? It will make you happy, angry, and sad all in one episode, but it's also a show you can re-watch thousands of times. Game of Thrones: I definitely do not suggest watching this show with kids around, seeing as though it has a lot of nudity, and some pretty graphic violence. These episodes are so long, and dramatic, but are packed full of entertainment. Sons of Anarchy: This is another show I don't recommend watching with the tiny humans around. It has some pretty graphic scenes,...

You've Got This...

We've all had those moments where all you can think is "How on earth am I supposed to handle this?". I know I've thought this exact thing a million times. Some times life is hitting you with one hard ball after another, and all you want to do is give up. But I promise you, this will all pass. With this promise though, comes an unfortunate truth, there will always be something after this.  There will always be another time where you think you cant handle the situation you're in. "This Too Shall Pass" I'm sure you've heard this before, and it's true, everything will pass. Whether you're struggling with being a mom, or school work is getting to be too much, or you are having relationship issues, everything will pass. Maybe it wont be in the way that you wanted, but everything happens the way it does for a reason. Life is tough, if it weren't what would be the point? If you feel the need to vent, do it. Don't feel like you're p...

My Labor and Delievery Story...

Image
Skye was originally due on February 28th, but she wasn't quite ready to come out yet lol. At my last OB appointment I was only at 3 1/2 cm., so they went ahead and scheduled my induction for when I would be exactly 41 weeks. At about 6:15 am on March 7th, they decided to break my water. They started getting me hooked up to the IV, took my blood, everything they needed for me to be ready for the next 12 hours. By 8:15 they had started me on Pitocin, unfortunately I hadn't progressed any on my own since they had broken my water. I really wanted to go into labor naturally, and not have any pain medication. Now let me tell you, if you have never been induced, those contractions are no joke. When the nurse was giving me the Pitocin, she gave me very little, and my contractions took off. They didn't even give me a full dose. Of course me being me, I didn't want an epidural, so I got the pleasure of experiencing these contractions in their fullest. Now if you are debating...

A Letter To My daughter...

Image
As I write this, you are curled up on my lap taking a nap. And I can't help but think of everything I want for you. I want for you to be curious. I want you to enjoy learning new things, and to see the beauty of things unknown. I want for you to know what you want, and to go after it. I want you to find something you enjoy so thoroughly, that you couldn't imagine not doing it. I want you to have a best friend, that you can grow up , and old with. I want you to know that you can do anything that you set your mind to, and that your dad and I will support you through all of it. I want you to know that you can come to me for absolutely anything, because believe it or not, I've done some pretty dumb stuff too. When a boy breaks your heart, I want you to tell me, because it sucks, and you're going to need ice cream. I want you to not get mad at me when I tell your dad that a boy broke your heart, because I know hes gonna hunt that boy down. I can tell by the way he looks a...

Why Aplologize...

Since having Skye, Andrew and I have made it a point to take here pretty much everywhere with us. This is so that not only does she get used to going different places, but so that we can be used to having her with us and it doesn't seem like a big deal. She's actually gotten really good at going places. We've even taken her to Longhorn Steakhouse, and you would have had no clue she was even there. Don't get me wrong, she definitely fusses every once in a while, but normally she's super easy to soothe. That is, until yesterday. Yesterday Skye screamed like never before, and I automatically start trying to soothe her. Of course we are at the very back of Walmart, and I realize my nursing cover is still in the car, in the diaper bag. Which is also in the car, because I suck. Instead of running all the way to the car, I decide that I can just go nurse her in the family restroom (I know I could totally just whip my boob out and nurse her, but I personally don't lik...
