Kitchen Tools...

Image
Andrew and I don't really eat out super often, so that means we cook a lot of the food we eat. So we have made a couple investments to make cooking a little more convenient for us. Here are our current favorite kitchen items that we own, because Lord know we are going to end up buying more. Crockpot I Feel like everyone loves their crockpot. Andrew and I make everything from roasts, to deserts with our lovely crockpot. Especially since having a baby, our crockpot has made cooking so much easier. I love that I can literally just throw everything in, give it a good mix, put the lid on, and walk away. To be completely honest, I forget that I started making anything until I can smell it when it's almost done. Ninja Blender We actually bought our Ninja because Andrew is going to be having surgery on his jaw soon, and wont be able to eat anything other than liquids and soft foods. Also we plan on making Skye's baby food ourselves, so having a really good blend...

6 Simple Ways To Refresh Date Night...

It's actually been quite a while since Andrew and I have gone on a date, but unfortunately that seems to be what happens when you have a baby. Here I am going to share with you 7 simple and fun ways to refresh your date night. Try something new So often when Andrew and I would have a date night, we would repeat the same thing over and over. Typically it was dinner and a movie, and while we still love to do that together, it became less of a date and more of a routine. So instead of dinner and a movie, maybe go on a day date. We both love to go out to breakfast, so a couple times we would go out to eat at our favorite breakfast place and then enjoy walking around downtown during the afternoon. Try an at home date night My husband and I love to cook together. We will make dinner, typically something we don't make often. Sometimes it's Chinese food, Pizza from scratch, or a new recipe. After we eat dinner we'll go watch a movie on our laptop in our bed,...

5 Habits To Help You Keep Your Kitchen Clean...

Have you ever looked at your house and thought, "how on earth did it get this bad?" That same thought went through my mind every single day until recently, it felt like no matter what I did, I just couldn't get my house under control. To be honest it's still not perfect, I still have rooms that need to be organized. Our bedroom is a constant battle, the guest room has become a storage space, and please do not open our garage door. Even my beautiful nursery, that I spent hours organizing before our little girl got here, is a mess. But, I have implemented some healthy habits, that have helped me to lessen the amount of chaos. Here are ===== simple habits you can start to help out with your "chaos". Go through your mail immediately I cannot explain how much this has helped with our dining room table being less cluttered. Right when you walk in our front door your greeted by our dining room, and our table seems to be one of our catch all spaces. After wal...

Meet Our Little Family...

Image
Andrew and Michaela Andrew and I met in 2010, started dating in February of 2014, and got married in December of 2014. In March of 2015 we moved into our first house together, and in August of 2016 we bought our first home. We are both originally from California, but Andrew is Active Duty in the USMC, so we currently live in North Carolina. We have both grown to love it here, and don't plan on moving back to California. Andrew is currently 21, and was born in November. I'm currently 20 and was born in December. Brinks Brinks is our 110 lbs. Pit-Mastiff mix, who loves to take naps, eat, and get belly rubs. Brinks was actually my dog before Andrew and I even started dating. He just turned 4 years old, and is finally out of his "puppy stage". His favorite treat is Peanut Butter, and he hates the bath more than anything. He loves walks, but gets tired after walking to the end of the street. Shadow Shadow is our crazy, energetic, curious little ...

My Current Favorite Cleaning Products

Image
So after you read this list, you'll be able to see that Method is clearly my favorite brand for cleaning products. No this isn't sponsored, I just genuinely love all of their products. I've included a couple other cleaning products that we pretty much always keep on hand as well, because nothing quite compares to them. Method Multi Surface Cleaner The multi surface cleaner is a must have in our house, especially now that Skye is around. I'm trying not to use such harsh cleaners, especially ones that have harsh smells. Half of the reason I love Method products, is because they smell pretty good. This cleaner leaves my stove, and counters feeling super clean, and I don't have to worry about the kitchen reeking of Lysol. Method Wood Cleaner/ Polish I love Methods Wood Cleaner and their polish. I have a beautiful wood table, that eventually we will be sanding and re-staining. These to products combined have literally brought it back to life. It was...

My Favorite Baby Skincare Products...

Image
Since having Skye we are having to learn which baby products work best for her skin. Skye was born at 41 weeks, because of this her poor little skin was constantly peeling, which in turn made her skin super dry and sensitive. These are the "Holy Grail" products that got us through that time, and that we are still using on her. These are 100% my honest opinions, and none of this is sponsored. Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash When we finally got home and were able to give Skye her first "real" bath, it was a no brainer. Her skin was so patchy from it peeling, that I could only imagine how itchy she was. I applied this on my hand and lightly massaged it all over her little body. This not only reduced the amount of peeling skin, but it left her feeling so much more hydrated than before. Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisture Cream This stuff is liquid gold. I ultimately think this is what helped Skye's dry skin issue. I use this on her every nigh...

What You Don't Know...

I was never REALLY good at anything growing up. I played violin, but I wasn't great. I played soccer, was actually pretty bad at it. I played softball, I loved the game, but again was not very good. There was never that one thing that I was just naturally good at, nothing that I really excelled in and enjoyed (unless you count reading tons of books). Until now. Now I have this beautiful baby, and while yes at times I am past the point of being exhausted, I haven't been overwhelmed. There hasn't been a point that I thought I couldn't do it anymore. Maybe It's because Skye is only seven weeks old, but maybe, just maybe, I am good at this. I enjoy every little thing about this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not necessarily a bad wife, but does keeping the house clean, making dinner, and doing endless loads of laundry come naturally to me? No. But I love to do it, because it makes my husband happy. We've gone through so much together, Getting dogs, buying a hou...

Baby Products I Didn't Find Essential...

Image
There are sooooo many different "Must Have" baby products out there, but to be 100% honest, only a hand full of them are really essential. I've posted my Top Five Baby Essentials , now here are some of the not so essential items that everyone tells you to register for or buy. Diaper Pail My husband and I decided that we weren't going to invest in a diaper pail for our daughter for one simple reason, it's not needed. It is so much cheaper to buy a smaller trashcan with a lid, and some scented trash bags. We saw no reason to buy a $60 diaper pail, that we would have to buy the refills for. Honestly our method has worked great so far, and there is no stink! Changing Table We actually do have one of these, and the only time it is ever really used is in the middle of the night. If we are being honest, half of the time I change her on a changing pad on the floor, or on our bed (judge me, but I'm not quite ready to get out of bed first thing in the m...

My Top 5 Baby Must Haves...

Image
Everyone has their baby must haves, but are they always the most functional? Below I'm going to list some pro's and some con's on each item, with REAL life reasons as to why they are amazing, and what kind of sucks about them. I hope this will help you with your decision making! Fisher Price Auto Rock N Play This is a life saver with Skye. Not only does this fit perfectly next to our bed, without taking up much room, but it's super easy to pick up and move to a different room. It folds up, and fits in the truck of my Honda Civic with no problems whatsoever. The real bread winner of this is the automatic rocking attachment. Skye loves to be moving while she sleeps, in the hospital the only way we could even get her to stay asleep was pacing around the room with her. The only downfall of this product is the music, a lot of times right when you turn it on the music starts playing and will wake the baby up. Now this may not be an issue for everyone, but ...

How It All Began...

Image
At the end of 2013, a boy caught my attention. A boy that I had known for a while, but paid very little notice to. But of course I had started paying attention to him a little to late, for he was leaving for USMC Bootcamp a couple weeks later. When this boy finally returned he was no longer just a boy, he was a boy that I had missed so much. A boy that I had grown so used to talking to all day everyday, that I hadn't talked to in months. A boy that had grown up. Finally on February 21st, after a couple months of nonstop texting, we started "dating". Well as much as you can date when one of you is in California and the other is in Florida for training. While it did suck to be so far apart for so long, it was also a blessing in disguise. We got to learn more about each other, and grow in our relationship, without all of the confusing physical stuff to get in the way. We went through almost six months of being together, before we actually got to be together. While he w...

Since having my daughter I've realized that not only are the "Essential Baby Products" not always essential, but half the time they are a big waste of money. But to be honest as a first time mom I'm learning. To be honest, no matter how long you've been a mom, whether it be two hours or two decades, we are all still learning everyday. Hopefully my tips, tricks and reviews help you on your crazy journey as a parent. Because who are we kidding, This journey is gonna be one wild ride. Follow my blog with Bloglovin
